Unions have voted to accept the employers' pay offer for 2009/10. The improved offer follows months of negotiations with the employers, and is for:
Branch Secretary, Kevin O'Grady said, "This result nationally and from the other unions is not surprising after the result of our own consultation that showed an overwhelming number of members were prepared to accept".
Nationally, the response given from the three unions (UNISON, UNITE & GMB) was, "acceptance of the offer comes at a time when our members are facing daily threats to jobs and services. They are providing vital council services with the threat of redundancy constantly hanging over them. This vote reflects that threat. We will now be working hard to show the public and service users how much our members do – for so little – in the run-up to next year’s negotiations."
Norwich City Council have not yet stated when the increase will be applied and back pay will be paid. We will bring this information to you as soon as it is confirmed.
