A Future That Works

On Saturday 20th October 2012, thousands of people will join the TUC march in London, to tell the government that their savage spending cuts are unnecessary, unfair and not working! For the next five years or more, unless policies change the economy will not grow, incomes will not rise, and there will be almost no new jobs.

Rather than deep, rapid spending cuts, we need to reverse our decline and build an economy that works for ordinary families. We don’t believe the coalition when they say we are all in this together - their public service cuts will hit the most vulnerable the hardest.

Instead of just letting the banks go back to business and bonuses as usual, we need policies that promote new

and old industries. UNISON believes that investing in good public services that save, protect and enrich lives will boost our economy and strengthen our communities.

Do you want a future that works? UNISON members and their families do. The poorest and most vulnerable in our society do. Young people and older people a like do. How about you? If you believe that government cuts are not the way to deliver the future that this country needs, then you need to let your feet do the talking.

Rather than deep, rapid spending cuts, we need to reverse our decline and build an economy that works for ordinary families.

Come and march for a future that works. Join us on 20 October at the TUC mass demonstration in London to show this government that their austerity agenda is standing in the way of delivering the jobs and growth that this country needs.

The branch committee, at their last meeting, agreed that travel to the march should be offered to our members and their families.  There are coaches going from Norwich and other parts of Norfolk and we will be able to get seats on them.  Travel cards for travel in London will also be provided. If you would like to join us please contact the branch office Unison@norwich.gov.uk or the branch secretary KevinO'Grady@norwich.gov.uk and for further information have a look at the web sites below.
